Is it taught in their schools and promoted around their parts of the country as well?

I'm writing a story and I'm planning to name a Welsh, London.
I don't want to name her like a stereotypical Welsh girl but is London a way too British for a Welsh girl?

My name really is Brynn, Pronounced Brin, and I always hated it. It sounded so plain, Its just 1 syllable. Its a welsh name and a Feminine form of Bryn. There are many different ways to spell it. It means "Hill" or "Mound." Its a 20th century name formed from a simple Welsh vocabulary word.

I went to a welsh primary school but an english secondary school. In secondary we only had an hour of welsh once a week. And they put me in a class with people who didn't know welsh so i had to go back from the beginning to learning the colours, shapes, animals and all that when i already knew them. But iv left school now and i love speaking welsh to family and some friends who can but iv forgotten half of it. I speak welsh but add some english words in because iv forgot how to say some words. So is there anywhere i can learn welsh except going to college? Thankss

I am a welsh speaker and it's my first and primary language and welsh is making a revolutionary come back even in the English speaking ares within wales. What about all the other Celtic languages what is the future of these. Which one is in the strongest position today?. And also why can't we post in welsh and Irish and Scottish Gaelic, Manx and Cornish on here as it is Yahoo Uk and Ireland?. I know that most languages start with many changes based on region and other languages influencing; but once a language has been established, what language hasn't changed much?

For instance, a branch of the Celtic languages like Welsh, or a branch of the Romance languages like the Catalan language. Have these changed much since they were established as a spoken language? Have any others?

My family originates from Wales and a couple of my relatives pronounce the language that my grandfather and grandmother used sometimes as being "Welch" while one says "Welsh". I just want to be absolutely sure because this is my heritage after all, and it means a lot to me. Someone that is well educated in this language please please help me clear this up. Thank You.

If Queen Elizabeth or Prince Charles or Prince William are in line for the throne or are currently on the throne, do they need to speak Welsh or Gaelic? It seems as though it would make sense even if they usually use English, but I was just wondering.

I'm trying to learn Welsh because someday I really want to live (or at least frequently visit) the United Kingdom. I really would like to know how to speak Welsh, because I'd also really like to be able to visit the Wales and know their language and everything......does anybody know any good websites that have free Welsh word guides or online tutors?
I want to know Welsh for when I someday go to the Wales....yes, I DO know that they speak English there too, but I'd still like to know Welsh anyways. It's an interesting language.

My mom and dad divorced when I was little and I haven't seen my dad since. I've always been interested in learning about my ancestors but I can't find anything about that side of the family because I don't talk to any of them. All I know is that they are Welsh+German(My grandparents both lived in the USA, but I don't even know if they were born here). Is there anything I can do?

I am a native Welsh speaker and I often hear Irish complimenting us Welsh on how we preserved our language and what have you . Bt really doesn't Irish have more speakers than Welsh. The reason i say this is because around 1 600 000 people in Ireland said they could speak Irish to some extent. And only 750 000 in Wales said that they could speak read and write Welsh. I am confused. They say welsh is the most robust celtic language used by thousands but how is this if Irish has this many speakers?>
