I have recently passed the application stage for a job. This morning I then received a letter saying that I have a interview in a week's time - Tuesday after next. Enclosed with the letter was a 'introductory to welsh' CD which is for my test which I must take after the interview. At the moment, I have no idea whether the test is written or oral... all I know is that I'm not very good at learning from listening to someone speak on a CD and then repeating what they say. I just can't take anything in that way.
I was hoping that someone would have any suggestions, like websites where I don't have to buy anything or download a program to quickly learn simple everyday phrases.
I'm trying to find a long list of male and female Welsh names, preferably with pronunciations. Are there any you can recommend? Thank you.

So far I've only read Trainspotting which I think is a great book. At first I found it somewhat difficult to read since it was written in the Scottish dialect. However, once I got used to this I thought it was a very entertaining and sometimes darkly funny novel.
So what do you think of his work and style of writing?
BQ: What are some other books that are written in a particular dialect or accent?
BQ2: Favourite author from Scotland?

Prince William is also known as William Wales. I read he is going to live in North Wales with his new fiancee Kate. Assuming prince Charles outlives the Queen William will become the new Prince of Wales. So I wondering how well he can speak Welsh.
From Wikipedia: By 2001 William was back in the United Kingdom and had enrolled, under the name William Wales, at the University of St Andrews.
Please do not say 'live in Wales' because that isn't possible. Im english and just basically want to learn a wesh accent. Help!
I was on Xbox live talking with somebody with a really really thick Welsh accent, the most Welsh accent in Wales (Im from the North west of England with an English accent) and an American came on, and we were all talking together for a wile, and he said we both sounded the same and had the same accents?
I am English, not Welsh or Scottish so why on visa to go abroad etc to i have to write British?

I'm trying to give up swearing for lent... but I'm going to need something to pad my vocabulary in their place. What are some cool words that people in the UK and Ireland to swear that aren't considered vulgar in the US? I'm thinking words like 'bloody' or even 'shite'. Any other ideas? Even australian words would be welcome.. anything used by an english speaking country... appreciated?!
Bugger is good from what I can tell and tosser and wanker are good as well.
I'd like to see more people answer though so I won't choose a best answer yet
I understand that English is a major language, but I don't understand why we have to have English lessons at school, when English people don't bother to learn Welsh? It's the co-language of the UK! Some English people even live in Wales & don't bother at all to learn it ?? :@ Grr...
To you, which of these languages- Old English, Old Irish, or Middle Welsh- is the more interesting early medieval language of the British Isles and which supplies the best corpus of literature?
Which language is the most difficult for the English speaker to learn? Which one is richest in vocabulary?
Or just general impressions!
I need and accurate translation of this in Welsh.
Could someone translate "rudew een hoffi" it's not how it's actually spelled, just how it's pronounced. Could someone translate? Thank you. ![]()
This is for a story I'm writing, one of the characters has a Welsh accent and I wondered how you would write it phonetically? Or can't you?
Thanks for any help!
Hooch: We go to Wales on holiday every year, so I'll do some studying while I'm there. =)
I would quite like something unusual and different to talk about, that hopefully not many other people will choose!
Also, because I'm not a fluent Welsh speaker I'd like it to be quite easy too please
Thank you!
I have used the BBC website and its fantastic and I have a few books from Wales, but are there any courses of other ways I can learn? I am Welsh and really want to learn as its part of my heritage.
And would you able to recognize it ?
