1. My Name is Jai Warren (working title) is a post-apocalypse zombie novel.

"My name is Jai Warren.
I am a genius at just eleven years old.
The world has been consumed by zombies.
My mother was killed by the zombies.
And I am trapped in an amusement park full of them."

Locked in at amusement park Blackbird Hill during a zombie apocalypse, genius child Jai Warren has survived for two years already. Now he must outlive the remaining zombies in the park and find any survivors. But Jai has survived so long because he is no ordinary human; he is a lab experiment, enhanced so that his brain was stronger than any living persons, but was left for dead after he was deemed a failed experiment, as he is almost completely unable to feel emotion.

The other survivors, Gracia - a young woman masking a secret beneath her patchwork skirts - Graeme - her loyal companion with a dark side - and Todd - the doll-faced policeman with a gory past - are all hiding something, but can they band together to survive the final outbreak of zombies or will they find themselves turned into zombies themselves?

2. Enaid Bay
When Micah decided to take a holiday to Enaid Bay on the Welsh coast, he was looking only for a peaceful vacation. The local villagers seem set out to prove him otherwise, telling him about elusive 'selkies' - seals who can shed their skin and turn human - that live in the nearby bay.
Dismissing it as a mere faerietale, Micah befriends two girls in this peculiar bay - Summer, a local girl who spends her days hunting for these mysterious selkies in the waters, and a haunting frozen-daiquiri loving lass who goes by the name of Gwennyth; and is soon revealed to be a selkie herself; one who fled to the surface to get away from her strict mother.
But while the boundaries of the species don't restrain Gwennyth's friendliness, a storm is coming to retrieve her, and there will be bloodshed.

Is australia made up of northerners?

notherners= people from the north of england? aussies seem to have the same character - blunt speaking, friendly, chavish areas, etc.

I know we have the welsh, scots, irish descended people here and later migrabnts from allover the world ,but im talking of the "dominant anglo culture" here it seems really "northernerish".

I was born in oz btw.But reading up on notherners they sound exactly like aussies.

There are over 200 postcoded place names from northern England in Australia.

Accordind to an ancient British legend, a Welsh prince named Madoc reportedly set foot on a land far west of Ireland. It is presumed that if this were true, this event would have taken place in 1170. Interestingly, I have also found accounts of British settlers coming into contact with Welsh speaking red indians from 1660-1750 in Virginia, Georgia and modern-day Kentucky!

type accent? I have listened to various Cockney/Cornish/Welsh/Scottish accents that I can't comprehend at yet the same person sings crystal clear. Is it the accent or the singing that is fake?

Are there any websites for learning Welsh?

I am really interested in learning Welsh, but I don't have the money for Rosetta Stone. Are there any websites that offer free lessons? Thx!

Why do the English make fun of Wales & the Welsh?

Why do the English make fun of Wales & the Welsh in particular?

Im speaking in films and on the tele. If "wales" is mentioned the actors say "oh is it as bad as that?" or "oh no, not wales". Or Welsh being used in the derogatory.

I hear it used about every other area like Ireland & the Irish and every other place, but why the direct special distaste for the Welsh & Wales?
So what I'm getting from the responses so far is that the Welsh are the least exposed to English domination throughout history? At least lingually and probably culturally? So that distinction has earned them exaggerated negative attributes according to the English?

So what is some typical negative stereotypes of the Welsh?
I mean what *are* ....
I'll give the best answer to "Cymro bach" although I think jealousy is not the term you're looking for, its more like "Resentment" for all the reasons you described.

what degree should i do?

for A level i'm studying history, English lang and lit, welsh and communication and culture.I'm also doing the welsh bac.

i'm interested in politics, history, creative writing, welsh language, people's well being, teaching, working in government, council work, office work.

i'm really stuck, i'd like to do a degree in politics and history but is that a pointless degree, even if i'm really interested?

Let me be clear here, Hispanics and Latino/Latina are not all dark skinned, dark haired people, and yet the law that was passed in Arizona is intended to target just those people because that is the stereotype that most people think of when they think of Latin America. There are people from Latin America with French, German, Italian and even Japanese last names, and yet the likelihood is that most people think of them all as having Spanish last names.

Let me also be clear here. This law will not solve the problems of crime coming over the border. Oh, I know that people are going to say that it will, but let us be realistic. What it will do is get a lot of cops killed while pulling over people for being Hispanic looking. Smugglers are not going to be pulled over and deported. Smugglers and the cartels that employ them are going to wait until the cop gets to the window and shoot them in the head. These are not nice people you are talking about and they WILL shoot first and not bother to ask questions later.

This will do more damage to the Arizona economy than anyone will predict because it means that many Mexicans will avoid Arizona for their vacations. These are tourists and they will not take kindly to being questioned by every gringo cop who wants to feel macho by harassing every brown skinned person that they see.

What about all the people here legally who work on the farms and are guest workers of the United States? These are the people who will be harassed, and because they have a right to say I don’t want to be harassed will walk away and find work elsewhere. Watch as crops whither and die on the vine because the laborers that Arizona depends on won’t be there.

Odds are that the majority of the Mexicans who are in Arizona are there legally, not illegally. Then again, this is not about stopping illegal immigration. This is about scoring points with racists who think that this will stop illegal immigration.

Despite what many people may also think, this will not stem the tide of illegals coming over the border. Instead, they will just line the pockets of the forgers out there so that they have fake green cards because- lo and behold- there is no way for the local police to access those records.

Have fun trying to fill the jobs that Americans won’t take even in a recession and have fun watching your state crash and burn.
Raquel Welsh is Hispanic. Talk about way outside the stereotype.

As far as I understand, Welsh is spoken more in the North than it is in the South. I've started to learn South Welsh, which is slightly different to North Welsh. I don't know why, but it seems to me that the Southern dialect is easier for me to pronounce than the North.

Which city, if any, speaks the most Welsh? I've seen it written that both dialects are spoken in Aberystwyth to some extent. I'm looking for a city which is fairly big? Thanks!

How different is Wales to England?

Hey, I'm from Ireland & I really want to go to Wales. I know allot of English people who tell me that there is no real difference between Wales & England. I've been to Scotland before & it's different to England but doesn't feel like a total different country but you can definitely sense the different culture.
From what I know Welsh people are very proud of their culture such as their language, countryside of north Wales, accent & descending from different people to the rest of the U.K. But is this enough to seem like a different country to England because its in the same state as England (U.K).
Since I'm from Ireland of course there are similarities to the U.K. but we have enough to be a different country. What we use that's different to the U.K. is kilometers, euros, we have a total different culture, there are areas in Ireland called Gaeltachts where people speak Irish as their first language, we have our own sports like hurling & Gaelic football, we have our own tv channels and programmes. I could list allot more things but I think you have the point.
Any help is really appreciated!

How do you use slang in Welsh?

Like um..How do you say words like
F*** you
"@SShole"

et cetera. ( I think that is how its spelled?)

Reason why I'm asking is because I'm Welsh, but..I never learned the language, being that I'm in America ._.

The request is a little random but before learning languages..I enjoy learning the slang. That's pretty much how I learned to speak Spanish. I put 2 and 2 together..

Whatever, just help me ^_^
Also, I find that pronounciations help me mostly ._.

Do you think that people from English-speaking countries should make more effort to learn a foreign language, even though English is the world's most widely-spoken language?

If you think Yes, then what languages should we learn?

P.S. I have a basic knowledge of French, German and Welsh, do you think that any of these languages are of use internationally?

re- write what do you think of this ad?

13hh bay Arab x Welsh mare 4 yo

unbroken, quiet and stunning, great movement she will excel at anything, showjumping/pony club/dressage and especially showing

she's been backed and ready to break, good with dogs and children

she will not go as a first project pony or to a un experienced home, she is very special and i am in no rush to sell her

,000 she is worth every penny
just so i dont flood the other one with to many edits >.< this is my last one thanks for your reply on the other
its spring here :) this is in aus dollars so 1,000 is actually a standard price for any horse,
what i mean by backed is EVERYTHING has been done, gypsy is a real sweetheart not rude, not pushy and very respectful the only reason why i haven't followed tough is from a fall off a friends horse during a hunt i dont have enough confidence and i refuse to get on the way i feel on a unbroken horse no mater how quiet she is i will not give her a bad start,
i've sat on her climbed on her bareback and in saddle she is quiet and easy to train no spook, no buck nothing

Its annoying. For starters Wales and scotland are on the island of great britain. Ireland is its own island and apart from like 6 counties ireland is independent and not part of the uk. Wales and scotland use different currency to ireland and have different culture, religion, language.
@ panda. all europeans have common roots.

Americans really love British accents (all of them- be it a London accent, a Scottish accent, Irish, even Welsh). What do you think of our accents?

Just one qualifier: I'm not talking about Southern accents or New York accents, I'm specifically asking about general American accents, like the accents one might hear while watching the majority American television or film.

most English speaking country's think British is a word for the English and it makes you mad if i was you it would make me mad to ?. or is that just one reason

Hardest languages in the world to speak?

Well...I speak Welsh & English fluently. But people say speaking Welsh is one of the hardest to speak. But i find it easy? So what do you think?:)

Pronunciation help: Meirionnydd

What is the proper pronunciation of Meirrionnydd? It is a district of the Welsh province Gwynedd.
Where is the emphasis? Is the -dd like the -dd in Gwynedd? (i.e. bathe, not bath)?

I wish I could speak Welsh

I've decided some time ago that this was the book I was to use for my EE* in English A1 because of the differences in the use of language. Would you say this is a wise choice? How do you think I could better it?

I'd rather not have to read another book. So, what other possible things can I write about for this book?

*EE's are at most 4000 words.
Yes, this is for the IB Extended Essay.

Is it worth learning Welsh?

Define: Meaning of Branwen name for a girl?

Does anyone know the meaning for this name?
I am getting conflicting information.
What I think and hope it means is White Raven.
I think it also is:
Welsh, and the feminine version of Bronwyn.
Can anybody correct me or confirm?
Does anyone speak welsh?
thx :)

From the book of Llyfr, Taliesin's words still voice the bard's story:

"I was enchanted by Math,
Before I became immortal,
I was enchanted by Gwydyon
The great purifier of the Brython."

Who was Gwydyon, and what was the Brython? If you would kindly give me some references, I would be very grateful.

(I'm learning the ancient legends of the Mabinogi, so I can pass them in telling to my children and their children after them).
Well, otsy; no mate, never pays to take yerself too seriously. I do know how to laugh at myself. Hours later, after posting the question, I did learn Gwydion was "a magician appearing prominently in the Fourth Branch of the Mabinogi and the ancient poem Cad Goddeu. He is the brother of Gilfaethwy and Arianrhod, and the nephew of Math fab Mathonwy. In the Mabinogion he is called the son of the goddess Dôn, making it likely he is an euhemerized god or demi-god. The name Gwydion means 'To Speak Poetry'." Next, I would like to learn who is the king Mailcuin, and where was the district of Guenadota.

Who here’s learning Welsh?

Ydych chi'n dysgu siarad Cymraeg?

If so let me know how you are planning on learning?
Cíaran Dia dhuit ta labhar gaeilge? something like that

Even though I was born in North America, I have some Scottish ancestry. I noticed that the majority of people I encounter who are of Irish, Scottish, or Welsh do not have that typical "Celtic" look (red hair, green eyes, freckles, etc.). As a matter of fact, many of them have very dark brown hair, brown eyes, and not-so ruddy skin. I went to England once, and many of the English there are also the same. They also do not resemble Nordic people (blonde hair, blue eyes, pale) in Scandinavia and Germany (even though English is a Nordic language).

Why is this so? Where did these darker types of people come from? Also, I'm not talking about recent Middle Eastern immigrants but British people whose ancestors have lived there for many centuries. Anyone have an idea?

Why are you so proud of your nationality.?

I hate living in South Wales, I would rather live in Germany. I'm not proud of being Welsh but then again I don't speak Welsh or have a Welsh background. I know my ancestors background is German, Irish (In Wexford, and that was founded by Vikings), Polish and English.
I want to be German!!
Would you ever like to change your nationality?
It's embarrassing being from Wales. Welsh people are so pathetically retarded, it annoys me!!

Language in the tv show Merlin?

What language is Nimueh chanting her spells in? Welsh? Gaelic? and what language is the song The Witch's Aria in?

A bit like welsh, do we continue to speak old regional languages or let them become extinct much like they are. sounds silly but really, opinions?
