Where can I learn Latin and Irish?

Suddenly I've become compelled to learn dead languages.
I want to learn Irish, Latin, Greek and Welsh.
OK anyone who is going to give me comments saying they aren't dead: THEY ARE - GET OVER IT.
Being dead doesn't make them insignificant. Like Kurt Cobain.

The free-er the better and I'd like to learn them online if possible.

I already speak English (Fluently) and French and German (not so fluently but enough to get by)

I know the tiniest bit of Latin. Maybe one word of welsh and a small bit of Irish.

Thanks!
Au Revoir (Bon Nuit) Merci!
Slan!
My bad greek isn't dead. A language being taught doesn't mean it isn't dead. Latin is taught. Latin is dead. Irish is taught. Unfortunatley English is the main language of Ireland. There isn't a country in the world that speaks Irish. It's sadly, dead. Same for Welsh. Whilst this is a great shame it's also a fact. Now stfu and answer my question.
Thanks

Employment in Wales for a Canadian?

I have been trying to move to Europe for years and one country that looks promising is Wales. I know that an employer has to show that they can't find an EU member to do the work so they hire in areas where there is a shortage of workers.

What areas should I be looking at for my skill set?

I have over 10 years in construction including stonework, woodwork, landscaping, as well as more modern technology like solar and wind power.

I am a trained arborist with 4 years in the field.

I have 12+ years driving a verity of heavy machinery including front end loaders, backhoes, forklifts as well as trucks and moving vans all in very cramped areas.

6+ years in childcare and teaching gymnastics with certification.

I don't need to be rich I just need enough to live off on. An employer that has a hard time keeping workers would be just fine. I am also looking into the possibility of being an au pair so I can learn to speak welsh better and make some connections.

so my friend has a cousin who has a dog and well its a corgi (ugly dog in my opinion, i didnt tell her that) and she and i share a locker so she puts up pictures every were of him and she says hes her dog and i have shetland sheep dog so when i put pics up of her she takes them down and says my dog is ugly and she wishes i would sell him or take him to a pound and just get a welsh corgi she even called my dog a bast ard and tore pics of her and i tore her pics but then she apoligized and did it again and so my question is should i talk to her or take her stuff out and throw it on the floor coz it is my locker and when my old dog (poodle) died she said oh well get a corgi poodles are fake and ugly and i said that the corgi wasnt even hers and she said it is coz her couzin said it is and i said ur 15 act mature sorry kinda dumb question

*This is just for a story I'm currently writing. I'm not going to name a child this.*

Alys (AH-lis) - means noble
Aneira (an-AY-ra) - means snow
Crystyn (cris-teen) - means Christian
Eirlys (AIR-lees) - means snowdrop
Enfys (en-vis) - means rainbow
Esyllt (ay-seelt) - means fair
Hafwen (hav-wen) - means white summer
Iseult (ee-SAYLT) - means beautiful
Lilwen (LIL-wen) - means white lily (possibly Lili for short)
Rhoslyn (Rhos-lin) - means rose hill
Seirian (say-REE-an) - means sparkling
Seren (seh-ren) - means star

Please rate them all for me out of 10 if you can, but if not just name your favourites. x
P.S. I apologise to any Welsh people if I got any of these pronunciations or meanings wrong. I'm Irish so I'm not fully familiar with Welsh phonetics. I'm learning though. :)

EASY! Need help with a domain namee! x?

Hey guys.

Me and my family, (me, my father, my father's 5 brothers and sisters, and their daughters and sons) are making a website.

We want to all know the password, and then when our family does something different, we can just upload a blog with pictures.
We all live in different parts of the world, so it will be a good way to keep in touch!

We are the Evans family. We were thinking of something like, www.TheEvansClan.com or something, but names like that are already taken. Something like TheEvansTribe or something.
We want something unique.
So basically we want a cool domain name :)
Thanks alot everyone!! x

Ps: We are from Wales, so we do all speak Welsh.

PANCAKES.

Is he just using me for sex or does he really care?

I've been seeing a mate of mine for 5+ months. At the beginning, things were great. He'd text me all the time, he'd check my Facebook etc but then it changed....

Were both in University and when he goes home, he usually lives 4+ hours away. Anyway saving the confusing I'll list this in bullet point:

-We were REALLY close to each other when we first started seeing each other
-He'd always makes sure that I'm ok
-He'd always meet me outside my lectures
-I confessed to him that I like him few months ago
-He told that he wasn't upset/embarrassed or anything
-He told me that he does like me too...but...he just got out of a 6 year relationship, and I quote 'wants to enjoy his single life', he said he doesn't want to string me along or hurt me in anyway. He just said 'maybe in time'.
-When he's walking me back to my place he'd always give me a kiss, and he'd always wait for me
-Called me 'hey sweet' in a text weeks ago

But...

-He hasn't texted me in 3+ weeks
-Yet he has commented on my Facebook on numerous occasions, in particular giving his opinion on a certain dress
-He had some bad news when we were out, I touched his hands, yet he didn't grudge or back away. He looked genuinely sad.
-Saying to my mate that were just having fun, and said that I feel the same way

Yesterday we were all having a BBQ, and I have taken my mates advice and keep my distance from him, and I did. We were all on top of a mount in a big circle and he stood few meters away. He called out my name about something that happened, nothing important but some of us go involved in the conversation. I sat down next to my mate, then about 15 min later my mate takes a phone call, and all of a sudden the guy I've been seeing sits next to me, while we were all talking about something else that happened.

Anyway after we had something to eat. Me and one of my mates (who took the phone call) decide to play passes with the rugby ball while everyone else was still on the mount. I was facing the mount so I could see the guy I've been seeing disappearing then came back up, looked at me, then he joined us. A minute later I get a phone call. I speak Welsh so he found it amusing (not in a nasty way) when I was on the phone. Afterwards, we were playing ball and a few of us came, so i decided to get back on the mount, when he soon followed me.

When we were on our way back, me and my other mate were walking at the front while he was walking few rows behind, facing my way. Then suddenly after a bit, he walks with his mate at the opposite road right ahead of us, I didn't find this weird until this happened...

By this time me and a mate were walking at the back of the group, and I could see him and his mate walking far ahead. All of a sudden, I see him and his mate just stopping on the side like a bystander, then he looked at me with a smile. I just glanced at him, then all of a sudden he walks behind us, then carried I on talking, without paying attention to him. It was weird, and I don't see why he would do that. It was like he was waiting for me to pass him.

Then we arrived at a mates house for a few drinks. He'd sit at a distance from me, and talk to other people. Then the weirdest thing. I walked down the stairs and back into the room, and 3 of the guys (including him) were going out to get some more drinks. He suddenly looks at me then looks down.

It's just like, he would talk to anyone but me. My mate (who's getting along with him) says reckons that he does like me. My mate reckons that he doesn't know what he wants...

What do you guys reckon with this situation?

I know this is long, and I thank you if you have read this to the end. Please help.

Firstly, who likes Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales?

Who likes the Prince for Wales idea?

Do you think that Prince Charles should learn Welsh? Or at least Prince William?

Shall I just take my life?

I'm 22 and an ugly virgin. They never talk to me, never look at me and never acknowledge my existence and when they do it's to verbally abuse me in the middle of a street. I know this probably has a lot more to do with Welsh women, considering the majority have no manners. When ever I try to talk to a woman, they either ignore me or look at me weird. Why?

I know it's probably because I'm ugly, but I've seen uglier men date attractive women.
Sins= no such thing

I'm British, I was born and raised in Wales (but I have an english accent) I now live in USA and I go to middle school, every girl in school thinks that my British accent is sexy, and they love it when I speak Welsh.
Why do American girls love British accents?
Next year I'm going to High School, so I'm scared what will happen there?

(I don't want a relationship, so how do I tell these girls to back off?)
By the way, I'm not actually english and I don'n have a cockney accent and say ''ello guvna'' I don't think anybody's said that in Britain for like 200 years.
Problem is I've been out with loads of the girls already and they're not my type, the only girl that I want doesn't really notice me!! But every other girl does! God must hate me sooo much!!! Lol

Welsh Girl name help?

Can anyone recommend any pretty welsh girls names? Please add pronunciations! Thanks

What is an unvoiced nasal consonant?

Rather, I get the concept, but how am I supposed to make the sound? For those who don't know the terms, you might still know what it is if you speak Welsh or Icelandic or something. It's when you don't vibrate your vocal cords while making an "n," "m," or "ng" sound.

When I try to do this, it sort of sounds like I'm making an h-sound at the same time as a normal nasal consonant. Is that right?

P.S.: This question is more in the field of linguistics than regarding any -specific- language. Is there an area in the physical or social sciences somewhere for this kind of question, or is it fine where it is?

What languages do you speak?

I'm English first language
Welsh second language
Spanish third
Japanese fourth

how about you?

My friend told me that Welsh and Irish are not Indo-European. I can actually understand that because they don't sound or look anything like Indo-European languages. And we all know that Welsh and Irish are not related to English, which is an Indo-European language. While the Anglo-Saxons arrived in Britain, the original Celtic Britons could not understand anything of what they said, and that shows that Celtic languages and Anglo-Saxon language are not in the same family. I know that Welsh and Irish belong to the Celtic language family, but are they related to other languages?
I find Welsh and Irish among the most beautiful languages in the world, and there is no wonder why Tolkien based the elven languages on Welsh, Irish and Finnish. I think Finnish looks a lot like Celtic languages. Is there any relationship between Welsh, Irish and Finnish?

Am I classified as a Japanophile/weeaboo?

Now, don't go judging me straight away just because I love anime and manga. The truth is I do enjoy watching anime but I just find manga a bit boring. And now to the point...

My interest in Japanese culture stems from my great love for Chinese characters (Hanzi/Hanja/Kanji/Han tu). I have a basic (yet almost in-depth) knowledge of it's history and it's several types of Buddhism and different religions (and don't get me wrong, I love Japanese history). I am no atheist (just had to say it, because I find a lot of weeaboos who are atheistic unless if one negates that issue). Also, basically, I study Japanese at university and I watch anime, old Japanese films (yes, even the classics of Kurosawa) and read about samurai.

But, I believe that I disassociate from the weeaboos because:
1. I love the language more than the anime and manga themselves and I do my best to speak it with proper sense.
2. Japanese culture is not the only culture I love entirely. I also have an interest in Chinese, Korean and Celtic cultures too. (NOTE: I am of Celtic blood, as my family are of English and Cornish origin who spoke Welsh and I am also part Scot from another side).
3. I don't play dress ups, like most weeaboos would and really I think the Japanese do it because... they only do it once in a while, IMHO. They wouldn't treat it like it's 'radical' or 'SUGOI'.
4. I don't have a library of J-pop, J-rap or any of that tat. It bothers me to why they put English in their lyrics. My most favourite music genres would be anything to do with House music or Jazz, especially French House and Chill House. So again, I don't listen to J-music and I think it's ok but not awesome.
5. All I care about is the Kanji. They are the reason why I love the 3 cultures of the Far East (China, Korea and Japan) and I want to study about it's definitions, origins, and everything about them.

So, to put into summary, I love Japanese culture, for its' history, language, society, martial arts and religions but I also have interests in other cultures too (and mind me, I am of mixed blood). To be honest, it is the writing system and speech that matters to me the most, and that brings me to love the culture. So... how would you classify me?
uh, Hannah Smith? fyi, I am in no way Afro-American! Never judge a book by it's cover.

I'm quite an independent person, and I'm bright, I passed my GCSE's with flying colours, but I get bored very easily. I want to do something different, I want to drop out of sixth form because it's boring and everyone there looks down on me because I'm an English student in a Welsh school (although I speak Welsh fluently). I'm good with financial planning, and the occupations I desire to follow don't need any qualifications. I want to be a model, entrepeuner, actor, fashion designer, ebay millionaire or something like that you know. I'm so frustrated with school at the moment and I just want to leave and live on my own, any suggestions?

I'm 14 and i learn all them languages, im fluent in english, welsh and german. The thing is, am i weird? because some boys at my school are saying im sad and stuff like that...

should more not be done in countrys like wales scotland and northern ireland to separate themselves national from england... the uk i fink is great but in northern ireland it does not have its own flag or national anthem or language same for i fink wales and scotland... scotland doesnt play enopugh bagpipes and talk scot gaelic and wales dont tlj enuf welsh there is too much english influence in the uk..

Did you know………….?

Wales is a country in it's own right, not just part of the UK, and we even have our own language here, how cool is that......well yahoo don't seem to think so, they keep deleting me whenever I ask if anyone here can speak welsh, so I'm using this question as a test to see if they delete me again.

How many native languages are there in the UK?

Are there five native languages in the UK? English, Welsh, Scottish, Irish and Shetlantic, or is Welsh, Scottish,Irish maybe Shetlantic the Gaelic languages really the same? lol i got a feeling i may insult some people in saying that.
I feel that i should know the answer really as i live in England, but i just haven't listened to the languages together to see for myself how they differ etc, even though i go to north Wales almost every year to see my auntie (she doesn't speak Welsh) and i listen to Celtic Woman songs i have never thought to compare them, i don't think i have even heard Scottish or Shetlantic.
Please be nice to me :)

Some help with a Welsh translation?

I would like to say "I try to see everything positively and enjoy every day", which I translated as "Dw i'n ceisio gweled popeth posidiol a mwynhau diwetydd". Does that make any sense?

Also, how does one translate "and many other things"?

Diolch yn fawr iawn!

I have had my Cob for nearly 2 years now and we have just found out we are ment to send it to The welsh cob and pony society to change the ownership details. And do i have to do anything else other than write out my details and send a 12.50 fee ?

why is there still hate in my town?

i live in a welsh town it is pretty poor and they hate the english but most speak english them self's there is football violence over it games can not go on unless there are the right amount of police and they have fights when games are not on but i just don't get it i mean it was a couple of 100 years ago i could understand if we all spoke welsh i know a fair a bit not like my nan and grandad who could speak it fluently i learnt it from them when they looked after me but i just don't understand has it just turned into more of an excuse now. ?

Is my friend a self hater?

This is a serious question.Today, i asked my friend what race she would like to be if she weren't white. She replied by saying that she would like to be white, because she would be considered attractive by the boys at her school and she would like to know what being super light would be like.
My friend is about the same complexion as soulja boy.She then started to talk about the cherokee, french, scottish, welsh and irish blood she has.She later said that she use to be lighter skinned, but got darker because of the sun.Is this self hatred?

btw my friend is 16.

This is a serious question! Mature people only!
an error haha, i meant what race she would like to be if she weren't black.
You don't know soulja boy! LOL
Lil miss stfu and the racist guy you're sick animalisitic pig.

I am doing a graded skit for my Honors English class. The play is "A Midsummer Night's Dream" by William Shakespeare. I know the setting is in Athens, Greece. Please list videos, tips, etc. for me so I can speak in either a (listed in significance):
1.) Greek
2.) Welsh/Irish
3.) English
4.) Italian
5.) Any other European accent!

Thanks SO much! I will try to choose a best answer if I get around to it!

What is the general perception of Welsh people?

We don't really live in caves and amongst sheep, but we do like rugby and have our own language. Some stereotypes are still around, but I'm just curious.

Welsh related question?

How does one say in Welsh: This isn't my husband?
If you could also provide the pronunciation I would be much obliged :)
