What about this one The Ventriloquist?

A ventriloquist visiting Wales walks into a small village and sees a local sitting in his porch patting his dog.

He figures he'll have a little fun, so he says to the Welsh man "Can I talk to your dog?"

Villager: "The dog doesn't talk, you stupid git."

Ventriloquist: "Hello dog, how's it going mate?"

Dog: "Doing all right.

Villager: (look of extreme shock)

Ventriloquist: "Is this villager your owner?" (pointing at the villager)

Dog: "Yep"

Ventriloquist: "How does he treat you?"

Dog: "Real good. He walks me twice a day, feeds me great food and takes me to the lake once a week to play."

Villager: (look of utter disbelief)

Ventriloquist: "Mind if I talk to your horse?"

Villager: "Uh, the horse doesn't talk either.... I think."

Ventriloquist: "Hey horse, how's it going?"

Horse: "Cool"

Villager: (absolutely dumbfounded)

Ventriloquist: "Is this your owner?" (pointing at the villager)

Horse: "Yep"

Ventriloquist: "How does he treat you?"

Horse: "Pretty good, thanks for asking.

He rides me regularly, brushes me down often and keeps me in the barn to protect me from the elements."

Villager: (total look of amazement)

Ventriloquist: "Mind if I talk to your sheep?

Villager: (in a panic) "The sheep's a f@&%ing liar!

If you could instantly learn any language, out of these, which 10 would you most like to learn?

Also, which languages do you think are the most important languages to learn?

im an irish-american who almost studied irish. at that point i found out that most irish people hate their language. after telling this to my friends, they all said, "irish and english people are the same god damn thing, they speak the same language", to which i protested, but i admit they had a point. "a people without their own language arent a people at all", some author, icant remember. at least the welsh have kept their language.

Here is a paragraph from Wikipedia to support your answer:
"England and Wales are constituent countries of the United Kingdom, which is a member of the European Union and EU law is effective in the UK.[5] The European Union consists mainly of countries which use civil law and so the civil law system is also in England in this form, and the European Court of Justice, a predominantly civil law court, can direct English and Welsh courts on the meaning of EU law."

Again im talking about presently..

I want to be properly bilingual, in a language that I can speak to my parents family etc, even though I live in the UK. My mum and I both want to become properly bilingual and we've narrowed our choices down to French, German, Spanish and Welsh. If anyone has any other suggestions they would also be helpful.

What's the sexiest accent? What's the worst?

How can I talk to a guy with a Welsh accent? (yummy!) I live in Canada...

Worst accent has to be either a Newfie accent or one of those deep southern drawls - they truly do sound like they just fell off the turnip truck...yep, howdy ma - I jess done milkin' them thar cowwws! Oh, just thought of another one - people who don't know how to say "ask" properly, so they say "ax". What's with that? They don't sound cool, they sound stupid.

Is the Breton language hard to learn?

the Breton Language is related to Cornish and Welsh so is it a hard language to learn

Why do women hate me?

I'm 22 and an ugly virgin. They never talk to me, never look at me and never acknowledge my existence and when they do it's to verbally abuse me in the middle of a street. I know this probably has a lot more to do with Welsh women, considering the majority have no manners. When ever I try to talk to a woman, they either ignore me or look at me weird. Why?

I know it's probably because I'm ugly, but I've seen uglier men date attractive women.

Do you think that sign language has accents?

For instance, the German would have solid movements, where as the french may have more fluid movements. If you're signing to the welsh, you get covered with phlegm still!

Is the Welsh so very difficult to learn? How different is the language from Irish Gaelic? How is the syntax and grammar different, if it is so?

Are there programs to learn Welsh in uni? Where in Canada or America can a person learn English. If I have to go to Wales, where is the best place to learn Welsh?
I've read Pat Ford's translation. I enjoyed it very much.

However, I'm wondering how has the comparing of it been for any of you scholars or "fans" of Welsh or Arthurian lore?

Whoopi Goldberg asked this on some talk show and I completely agreed with her.

My distant ancestors came from Wales, but you don't call me Welsh American do you?
Jimmy - if that's true, then why on earth would black people be okay with being called that?

I want to learn a new language?

I'm fluent in Welsh, English and Spanish.
I'd like to learn a new language but i'm not shure what language though....
I was thinking German?
any suggestions please?

Fox hunting and a new horse?

So I've been doing a little bit of eventing and a lot of show jumping. I've been riding for 13 years, english for about 7 or 8. I'm starting to get a little big for my current pony/horse a 14.2 arab/welsh, Juliet. I was talking to the barn owner where we board and I said that I was thinking of selling Juliet. She's been looking for a horse for her grand daughter and she loves Juliet but she also said one of her friends has a gorgeous gray fox hunter gelding, who knew a bit of dressage and would jump anything you put in front of him and that since she was good friends with the girl she could probably talk her into giving us a good deal. So I was wondering what you guys would think of this deal? And what fox hunting is like? We'd probably lease the gelding for a month or two to see if I like fox hunting and I like the horse but I just kinda want an idea of what it's like to compete, I go and watch them all the time. If you guys need a little more info just tell me, I'll post.
Danke!
Chelsea.
Kiwix. I think you get the image straight out of black beauty. Here they only do scent drags and believe me the people here aren't going to risk hurting their horse.
Hunter/jumper they don't actually kill the foxes if they even use a real one. Once the fox goes underground the riders call it a day or go find another one to chase. I can promise it is not like Black Beauty I was at one a few weeks ago.
If I get the horse it will be doing chases (prexplained where once the fox goes under the riders call it a day). I've watched them, I just wanted to know what it's like to actually compete in them.
Or just the scent drags. I live in northern VA we have tons of drags and chases. The fox dosen't actually ever get hurt. Promise.

Question to welsh speakers New website?

Hi,
Im planning on making a site and I would know if any welsh speakers or any one who understands welsh would be interested. Im not a good welsh speaker. And I am learning welsh for G.C.S.E's. But I am fairly good with I.C.T.

So im planning on making a site in comparison to youtube. Not a copy of youtube but the same Idea. Except a few differences.

* The site would be all welsh.
* All user can Post video about about themselves or what ever ( Sort of like youtube ) but in welsh.
* If you join you have your own channel, profile ( similar to a youtube channel or facebook profile.

So thats my basic Idea but I would like to know if there are any welsh speakers who would be intrested in becoming a member of this site. If so please comment.

Oh yes almost forgot.

The name I have come up with for this site is -

FideoYnCymraeg

My welsh is not to good right now but I think translated that means

Is australia made up of northerners?

notherners= people from the north of england? aussies seem to have the same character - blunt speaking, friendly, chavish areas, etc.

I know we have the welsh, scots, irish descended people here and later migrabnts from allover the world ,but im talking of the "dominant anglo culture" here it seems really "northernerish".

I was born in oz btw.But reading up on notherners they sound exactly like aussies.

There are over 200 postcoded place names from northern England in Australia.

Are there any websites for learning Welsh?

I am really interested in learning Welsh, but I don't have the money for Rosetta Stone. Are there any websites that offer free lessons? Thx!

Let me be clear here, Hispanics and Latino/Latina are not all dark skinned, dark haired people, and yet the law that was passed in Arizona is intended to target just those people because that is the stereotype that most people think of when they think of Latin America. There are people from Latin America with French, German, Italian and even Japanese last names, and yet the likelihood is that most people think of them all as having Spanish last names.

Let me also be clear here. This law will not solve the problems of crime coming over the border. Oh, I know that people are going to say that it will, but let us be realistic. What it will do is get a lot of cops killed while pulling over people for being Hispanic looking. Smugglers are not going to be pulled over and deported. Smugglers and the cartels that employ them are going to wait until the cop gets to the window and shoot them in the head. These are not nice people you are talking about and they WILL shoot first and not bother to ask questions later.

This will do more damage to the Arizona economy than anyone will predict because it means that many Mexicans will avoid Arizona for their vacations. These are tourists and they will not take kindly to being questioned by every gringo cop who wants to feel macho by harassing every brown skinned person that they see.

What about all the people here legally who work on the farms and are guest workers of the United States? These are the people who will be harassed, and because they have a right to say I don’t want to be harassed will walk away and find work elsewhere. Watch as crops whither and die on the vine because the laborers that Arizona depends on won’t be there.

Odds are that the majority of the Mexicans who are in Arizona are there legally, not illegally. Then again, this is not about stopping illegal immigration. This is about scoring points with racists who think that this will stop illegal immigration.

Despite what many people may also think, this will not stem the tide of illegals coming over the border. Instead, they will just line the pockets of the forgers out there so that they have fake green cards because- lo and behold- there is no way for the local police to access those records.

Have fun trying to fill the jobs that Americans won’t take even in a recession and have fun watching your state crash and burn.
Raquel Welsh is Hispanic. Talk about way outside the stereotype.

Do you think that people from English-speaking countries should make more effort to learn a foreign language, even though English is the world's most widely-spoken language?

If you think Yes, then what languages should we learn?

P.S. I have a basic knowledge of French, German and Welsh, do you think that any of these languages are of use internationally?

Its annoying. For starters Wales and scotland are on the island of great britain. Ireland is its own island and apart from like 6 counties ireland is independent and not part of the uk. Wales and scotland use different currency to ireland and have different culture, religion, language.
@ panda. all europeans have common roots.

Americans really love British accents (all of them- be it a London accent, a Scottish accent, Irish, even Welsh). What do you think of our accents?

Just one qualifier: I'm not talking about Southern accents or New York accents, I'm specifically asking about general American accents, like the accents one might hear while watching the majority American television or film.

Is it worth learning Welsh?

I love it but is it worth learning?
I live in Wales, and Welsh is a language not a country, Retard.

Even though I was born in North America, I have some Scottish ancestry. I noticed that the majority of people I encounter who are of Irish, Scottish, or Welsh do not have that typical "Celtic" look (red hair, green eyes, freckles, etc.). As a matter of fact, many of them have very dark brown hair, brown eyes, and not-so ruddy skin. I went to England once, and many of the English there are also the same. They also do not resemble Nordic people (blonde hair, blue eyes, pale) in Scandinavia and Germany (even though English is a Nordic language).

Why is this so? Where did these darker types of people come from? Also, I'm not talking about recent Middle Eastern immigrants but British people whose ancestors have lived there for many centuries. Anyone have an idea?

UK gay guys (bloody 20 letter damn it to hell)?

Where can I meet gay welsh teens online?
I just want to talk to guys, I could atleast have some chance of talking to in real life.

I've recently discovered my roots and, along with being related to everyone's favourite bartender Jack Daniels, I'm Scottish and Welsh! I'm very interested in learning more about my ancestry and embracing that part of my life. Are there any communities or groups in or near Portland, Oregon, that celebrate these two heritages/cultures? (Yes, I already know about the Highland Games.)

Welsh people…is this normal?

I have no problem at all with Welsh folks. A couple of seriously good mates are Welsh. But it is my suspicion that some Welsh people just maybe overdo it? Have you encountered anything like the below, does it embarrass you, or would you defend it?:

1. A mate in London had two Welsh girls to stay for a weekend. He'd met them on holiday. They were quite fit and quite good fun. But they were totally obsessed with Wales. It was almost impossible to stop them from talking about Wales and Welshness. I don't mean their everyday lives in Wales...I mean Welsh history, Welsh culture, Welsh everything...like mini-lectures or lessons for the English, over and over again. Both had lived in Cardiff all of their lives. Every now and then they broke off to talk in what seemed like very broken Welsh with each other...it didn't sound fluent and sounded as if they were struggling...and, hilariously, one of them claimed to have forgotten how to say 'Wednesday' (in English). She was rolling her eyes, giggling, slapping the table and claiming she had forgotten it and could only say the Welsh word. They were transparently not Welsh speakers and it was embarrassing as this seemed highly faked. They were quite nice girls...but they were unable to go for more than about 10 minutes without doing or saying something that absically meant 'I am Welsh'. This is would be very...weird... behaviour for the English if we were off our patch. Is it more normal in Wales?

2. My neighbours went skiing with their son's Welsh in-laws to get to know them a bit better and be mately and familyish. At the ski resort, if the Welsh wife ever overheard that someone else was Welsh, she'd scream about it...shout over to her husband pointing that she'd just heard some fellow Welsh people...and sometimes rush up to the overheard people, introduce herself and invite them to have dinner later or a drink or something, simply because they were Welsh. They often looked a bit intruded on and nervous of her, apparently, although some were delighted. Again...if you were English and did this to other English people, you'd be treated with some wariness and caution.

Views? Do you think Welsh people do/say some rather over-blown things when among non-Welsh people to make a point? Or do you think it's all fair enough?
PS Please don't say it is natural and to be expected :-) It really isn't. I'm keen to find out if the Welsh are embarrassed about this sort of thing, or whether it can be considered fair enough for a small nation to so manically hype itself up when not at home.

What is the meaning of the Welsh flag?

What do i do about a racist slur?

My 2 friends Brandon and Iuen, who is welsh and african said they were playing a stereo type game, so the first thing that came to mind was "What like all black people love KFC", then they said "NO! like all Jamacians wear big hats for their dreads!" And thats not the worst thing. Later that week me and my friend were talking like Gangsters and he walked up to us just as i said "Shut the fuck up nigger!" And now i think Iuen hates me. Any help?
