How hard will it be for me to learn Welsh?
I am a native English speaker and I'm fairly good with French, but even though I've always wanted to learn Welsh, will it be easy? French was quite easy for me, and I think languages like Spanish and Italian will also come easily because they're Latin root languages... how about Welsh? Has anybody learned Welsh as a second/third language?

As an English speaker Welsh is very tough to learn, no latin base to begin with. Consonant pronunciation is tongue tying, it switches verbs and sentence subjects, the writing is cryptic. Then you have distinctive northern and southern dialects. But if you are prepared to put in several months of study, results will come.
Nobody can promise that learning any particular language will be easy, but I can think of a number of people who were able to make a success of learning Welsh after studying French. There are some similarities of vocabulary (although one has to look hard sometimes) and although the grammar is not similar, there are some points in common, such as placing adjectives after nouns and being aware of genders.
