Reasons for speaking Welsh?

I'm doing a presentation about the Welsh language and society, and wanted to know a few reasons why people spoke Welsh. Also, I would like to know if there is a more "prestigious" dialect/accent in Welsh, for example, RP English is in England.
oops i meant speak, not spoke! bad grammar on my part, sorry!

why they SPOKE? we still do speak it.

I speak it because it’s what i was brought up with , why do you speak englihs? because its what you were brought up to speak.

But i’m guessing you want advantages for it :
well , it gives a sense of belonging , creates a really strong community and theres always support for each other amongst other welsh speakers. (by this i mean, if i heard somone speak welsh – i could easily go and speak to them simply because of that common ground… and if i was cold or wet , and came across a welsh speaking person – i wouldnt feel awkward/worried asking if i could have a cup of tea to warm up)

There are many social advantages like that , but really – its our roots , i wouldnt feel welsh/feel like me if i went a few days without speaking it… its just so strange to think of life without speaking wlesh.

Other advantages : Work , we have a strong skill thats sought for , more and more so because its becoming a right to be able to offer us services through welsh – so naturally they would give us the job over someone without the language.

we also have more options for work in the future … welsh tv , less competition that going into english tv , welsh radio , welsh writing , teaching welsh , working for the council or in the assebly… all these things – youd have to have the welsh language to be able to do it.

not sure what you mean about the accent , od you mean a posher accent? Not really , in posher areas of cardiff etc (rhiwbeina or somewhere) they’ll speak slightly posher but nothing like the english posh accent. there are diffrfent welsh accents , cardiff/barry/valleys/bangor/llanfyllin … they all have diffrent accents but there isnt a "chavvy welsh accent" or a "posh welsh accent!
