Well more would survive if they took Welsh off the road signs and left them easy for the whole population to understand easily!!
Does any other nationality hanker to go backwards in the world?!!!
I recommend not to forget it ,.Will Britons admit defeat and use American English as their first language?
Making the Welsh speak English is a battle to you? Sorry, but that sounds retarded.
I am not going to loose my temper because clearly that is what you want!
Defeat? Yes ok the language that is growing amongs people in Wales? I see no defeat, Welsh has always been the main language here in Carmarthenshire for a good 2 thousand years English never so where’s defeat? I speak Welsh it’s my first language, You only speak English i suppose, I can speak Welsh, English, Afrikaans fluently, German and Spanish and Cornish to a high standard, Irish, French, Polish, Zulu and Scottish Gaelic to a basic level? Why because i can speak Welsh and it’s made learning other languages easier, It’s the language of my village, my school,. my family, and will be the language of my job, its the language of tv, newspapers, signs, internet? Where’s defeat?
40.5% of all pupils in Wales speak Fluent Welsh
20% of Adults,
People didnt just turn their back on the language they were banned from speaking Welsh by the So called British government, Welsh was forced out of people and English slammed in, Now it’s changed and people are returning to their roots and speaking they’re own language because they want to. Defeat? The only person who has been defeated is people like you who are resulting to making silly pointless statements because you are envious that we still speak our own language here after hundres of year of English oppression,
People you wonder why we hate the English in general?
Dyma’r rheswm – Here’s the reason
Rwy’n Gymro, Cymraeg yw fy iaith gyntaf, I mi y Gymraeg yw’r iaith sydd yn agor fy nheimladau ac sydd yn synhwyro’r byd ac nid Saesneg, Does dim buddugoliaeth i’r Sais yma o gwbwl, Dwi dal yn Gymro a dwi dal yn siarad Cymraeg, Ewch i’r uffern y diawliaid.
Translation for you – I am a Welshman, Welsh is my first language, To me Welsh is the language that opens my feelings and makes the world make sense. not English. There is no victory to the English here at all, I am still a welshman and i still Speak Welsh,
What? This is the most ridiculous question ever.
Plenty of people speak welsh throughout wales. I’m 16 , I speak welsh with my family , i speak welsh in school , i speak welsh with every single one of my friends , i listen to welsh radio , i watch welsh television , i read welsh books…
A question like this is like asking you to live your life through french. French isn’t your language , English isn’t mine.
The welsh language is growing – therefor we have succeeded.
A question like this is like saying "Should we admit defeat and accept that we will die of cancer?" – no , it’s a stupid stupid question , as progress is being made.
But also , I don’t quite see why you would want this anyway – what harm does it make? As far as I can see , only good things come of being fluent in more than one language.
‘Gwlad heb iaith – gwlad heb enaid’
= ‘country without language – country without soul’
The french wouldn’t feel as french without their language , neither would the chinese , the italian , or the welsh.
