From the book of Llyfr, Taliesin's words still voice the bard's story:

"I was enchanted by Math,
Before I became immortal,
I was enchanted by Gwydyon
The great purifier of the Brython."

Who was Gwydyon, and what was the Brython? If you would kindly give me some references, I would be very grateful.

(I'm learning the ancient legends of the Mabinogi, so I can pass them in telling to my children and their children after them).
Well, otsy; no mate, never pays to take yerself too seriously. I do know how to laugh at myself. Hours later, after posting the question, I did learn Gwydion was "a magician appearing prominently in the Fourth Branch of the Mabinogi and the ancient poem Cad Goddeu. He is the brother of Gilfaethwy and Arianrhod, and the nephew of Math fab Mathonwy. In the Mabinogion he is called the son of the goddess Dôn, making it likely he is an euhemerized god or demi-god. The name Gwydion means 'To Speak Poetry'." Next, I would like to learn who is the king Mailcuin, and where was the district of Guenadota.

Welsh and Irish languages.?

I am a native Welsh speaker and I often hear Irish complimenting us Welsh on how we preserved our language and what have you . Bt really doesn't Irish have more speakers than Welsh. The reason i say this is because around 1 600 000 people in Ireland said they could speak Irish to some extent. And only 750 000 in Wales said that they could speak read and write Welsh. I am confused. They say welsh is the most robust celtic language used by thousands but how is this if Irish has this many speakers?>

Diolch
go raibh math agat.
