How is it that the welsh language sounds so different to Irish?
I never heard welsh till weeks ago on the channel S4C on a docamentary on Rhydian. Fabulous singer by the way. I was surprised that Welsh language sounded so different to the Irish language. How is this they are both Celtic languages. There is no comparison in the sounds.
I think it is great that ye have a channel for Welsh. How long do ye have it for? It came up on Sky in Ireland about a year ago, not sure.
We have channel for Irish in Ireland called TG4.
Thanks that makes sense. Ye have had that T.V station ages so. Tg4 only around about 11 or 12 years.
Do many of ye speak welish?

I go to Wales quite a bit and have often thought of learning to speak Welsh but when I was there, although all the signs are in Welsh and English, only one person I came across spoke Welsh, and he changed to English when he realised the person he was speaking to didn't understand him. Is the Welsh language just something that isn't used any more and are the signs just there for the minority who can't speak English or do people in Wales still actively use the language?

After reading answers from other questions,it is obious to me that most people dont know a thing about the Welsh language.I speak it fluently, diolch yn fawr, but most people think of it as a dying language that no-one cares about.Or,even more annoying, mix it up with a toatally different language gaelic.Welsh is from Wales and Gaelic is from Scotland,to simplify it for Americans reading this.More than 20% of us welsh speak it and many more have(50%)a basic understanding of it.iT is used and very alive,so proudly Spoken by many a countrymens tounge, including mine. So,if think otherwise, have a view or something to say....ANSWER NOW!!!!!

Where can I find "business letter" templates in Welsh? Like an invoice, or a thank you letter? Or perhaps a guide to writing Welsh language business letters.
Most of the Welsh I find online appears to be personal Welsh. Please help if you can.

Hi. I'd like some translations from English to Welsh.
What are the best forums to go to to discuss the Welsh language and ask for English to Welsh translations besides forumwales.com?
I tried them and I haven't gotten much help, and I asked for Welsh translations here and haven't gotten any responses yet. Please let me know. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Jason G.
