In rural areas, particularly in the North and Mid-Wales a lot of people speak Welsh as their first language. Bilingual road signs are seen across Wales (In English and Welsh) but in most towns and cities the majority of people speak English as their first language.

Welsh is certainly not a dying language (as the first answer says). In fact Welsh is actually becoming more popular and more and more children learn it to a higher standard in Welsh schools.

my older brother was taught welsh (Gailic) in school when we lived in wales. They speak it fluently in Carnaervan (near the castle) in the shops and obviously English is a second language.
