why is st david’s day ‘dydd gŵyl Dewi Sant’ in welsh as opposed to ‘Dydd Gŵyl sant Dewi?’
because we say: diwrnod SANTES Dwynwen
or SANT Meiriadog. Is it just something that changed over the years in spoken welsh?

Just the way somebody interpreted it a long time ago. No one has had the sense to change it to what it should be.

Because like most languages the noun precedes the adjective.
